The air drops are designed to bring players together, and while some may rush the crate, others may hang back and pick off those who find themselves in the crosshairs. Of course, everyone else is also after this crate – and are more than willing to put you down to control them. Because of the scarce resources available in the game world, controlling these supplies gives you the upper hand in surviving whatever the world can throw at you. At random times in the game, a plane will fly overhead and drop a crate of supplies somewhere in the middle of the game world. Throughout the H1N1 panel and all throughout the weekend, Sony Online Entertainment kept asking a single simple question: what’s in the box? The answer will be discovered soon with the inclusion of a new feature: Air Drops. While the game remains in closed testing, the developers did reveal a few new nuggets of information that help paint just what kind of world you and your friends will be stepping into.

If you aren’t aware, H1Z1 will bring players together (and, on occasion, set them against each other) in an effort to survive in a post-apocalyptic world where the dead have risen and are now hellbent on increasing their numbers. One of the games that was talked about in some detail was Sony Online’s upcoming zombie survival MMORPG, H1Z1. Think of it as a mini-convention, where fans of SOE games like Everquest, DC Universe Online, and PlanetSide 2 can meet up and exchange stories, meet longtime online friends, and learn more about their favorite games directly from the developers. Sony Online Entertainment recently held their annual SOE Live event from Las Vegas, Nevada.
